Simcenter Madymo – Simulation of Occupant Safety and Human Body Dynamics

Simcenter Madymo is the industry-leading simulation tool for analyzing human body dynamics and occupant safety systems in transportation environments. It is used extensively by automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to simulate vehicle crash events, occupant injury risk, and the performance of restraint systems such as airbags, seatbelts, and seats.

At its core, Simcenter Madymo combines multibody dynamics (MBD), finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate complex interactions between vehicle interiors, occupants, and safety systems. It includes a validated database of scalable human body models—covering adults, children, and pedestrians—each calibrated against biomechanical testing data. Engineers can simulate front, rear, side, and rollover crash scenarios, along with pre-crash active safety interventions like emergency braking or evasive maneuvers.

Madymo supports real-time co-simulation with vehicle dynamics tools (e.g., Simcenter Amesim), enabling holistic system-level analysis. It provides critical outputs like head injury criteria (HIC), neck forces, chest acceleration, and other injury metrics, helping meet global safety standards
