Simcenter MAGNET – Electromagnetic Simulation for Electrical Machines and Actuators
Simcenter MAGNET is a simulation solution specialized in low-frequency electromagnetic and electromechanical analysis. It is particularly suited for designing electric motors, sensors, actuators, solenoids, transformers, and other electromagnetic devices. Using finite element methods (FEM), Simcenter MAGNET accurately calculates magnetic field distributions, torque, forces, core losses, and demagnetization effects.
The software allows engineers to model both 2D and 3D devices and perform transient, steady-state, and time-harmonic analyses. It supports motion simulation to study dynamic behaviors and mechanical-electromagnetic interaction. Simcenter MAGNET also includes an extensive materials library, including nonlinear and anisotropic materials, enabling precise analysis of magnetic saturation, hysteresis, and eddy currents. Integration with thermal solvers allows for coupled electro-thermal analysis, predicting heat generation and thermal performance of devices. It also interfaces with Motorsolve and system simulation tools like Simcenter Amesim, providing a complete platform for electric machine design optimization.
